Urgent Appeal: Help Us Set Up a Field Hospital in Gaza

Help Us Expand the SWAN Field Hospital: Delivering Life-Saving Care in Gaza

The situation in Gaza is dire. Since October 2023, more than 36,000 Palestinians have lost their lives, and over 70,000 have been injured. The need for medical care is overwhelming. Hundreds of thousands are in desperate need of surgical, medical, and mental health support. Many are suffering from severe injuries, amputations, chronic conditions, and the trauma of witnessing unimaginable destruction, loss, and displacement.

Gaza’s health system is on the brink of collapse. Out of 36 hospitals, only 12 are even partially functional. Despite this, the dedicated medical staff continue to work tirelessly, treating patients with severely limited access to supplies and equipment.

In response to this crisis, SWAN, led by our international coordinator Salam Aldeen and supported by WHO and healthcare professionals in Gaza, has secured premises in Khan Younis to establish a much-needed SWAN FIELD HOSPITAL. This facility is being renovated and will soon provide critical medical services to those in urgent need.

The SWAN Field Hospital is a lifeline for the people of Gaza, where ongoing conflict has devastated healthcare infrastructure. Situated between Khan Younis and Deir al-Balah, near the sea, our hospital, named Hope Medical Point, provides essential care to a region where no other hospitals are operational.

Since its establishment in May 2024, this facility has been offering rapid, life-saving treatments to thousands of patients facing trauma, disease, and emergencies. The hospital focuses on acute care and trauma treatment, serving a population in urgent need of medical attention. Our dedicated team of 10 doctors, 15 nurses, and support staff work tirelessly, often with limited resources, to provide care 24/7.

This is only the beginning and we work, where and how we can to deliver such aid.

What We Do: Saving Lives Every Day

Despite challenges, the SWAN Field Hospital has been able to provide a wide range of services, including treatment for infections, chronic conditions, wound care, and support for pregnant women, children, and those suffering from respiratory and urinary tract infections.

We have 8 treatment rooms and a pharmacy, but the demand for specialized services is growing. Hundreds of patients rely on us every day, and we are quickly outgrowing our capacity.

The Need for Expansion: A Critical Urgency

To meet the overwhelming demand for care, we are urgently seeking £50,000 to expand our facility and provide specialized services. This expansion will include four new rooms that will help us:

1. Support Children’s Prosthetics – Offering essential rehabilitation and prosthetic care to children who have lost limbs due to the ongoing violence.

2. Launch a Dental Clinic – Providing routine check-ups, fillings, extractions, and preventive care to improve oral health.

3. Introduce a Laboratory for Diagnostics – Enabling on-site blood tests and microbiological analysis to provide quicker, more accurate diagnoses.

4. Establish a Minor Surgery Unit – Allowing us to carry out essential procedures, such as suturing and abscess drainage, to reduce the need for referrals to distant hospitals.

We also aim to eventually own an ambulance to transport patients to larger hospitals when needed and bring those who cannot reach our facility to receive care.

Why Your Support Matters

Your donation will directly contribute to saving lives. By expanding our services and infrastructure, we can:

- Save Lives – Your contribution can be the difference between life and death for those in critical need.

- Increase Accessibility – Localized care reduces travel time and ensures patients receive prompt treatment.

- Support Community Recovery – Healthier people are better equipped to rebuild their lives after the trauma of war.

How You Can Help

We need your support to continue providing vital care and expand our capabilities. With £50,000, we will be able to build these additional rooms, purchase essential equipment, and continue our mission of providing medical care to those who need it most.

Every donation, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to a brighter, healthier future for the people of Gaza.
